What is a customer worth? Over the past 10 years, many social media “experts” have attempted to place a value on Facebook “likes.” The numbers have ranged from $5 to $100, according to these “experts.” In other words, it is still very hard to measure the return on investment (ROI) with social media marketing campaigns, like those through Facebook.
Facebook: Still a Popular Choice
Regardless of the difficulty in measuring value, Facebook continues to become more and more popular with Martial Arts and Mixed Martial Arts facilities. Savvy gym owners are using Facebook to build closer relationships and loyalty with customers, not just to sell products like MMA Mats, bags or racks. It has pretty much become the number one way for small businesses to communicate with existing customers and prospects.
The Power of Social Media Marketing
The true power of Facebook, and other Social Media channels like Twitter and Instagram, is the ability to help you connect with customers and prospects in ways otherwise not possible. It is a marketing communication tool that you can’t afford not to take advantage of if you are going to be a viable business for the long-term.
Utilizing Social Channels
If you have a Facebook page, or once you create one, make sure to fully “activate” it by adding a “Find us on Facebook” link on your website. Share pro shop specials and membership promotions on your page. But also add personal information, congratulatory messages to members who attain a new belt, staff birthdays, workout tips, etc. The more information you put on your Facebook page, not just trying to promote your gym, the more followers you will get… the more “likes” you will get.
Don’t worry early on about how many followers or likes you are getting. Facebook isn’t a “quick fix” solution. Your following will grow slowly over time… and the benefits of Facebook and other social media channels will be fully realized when you keep active on the site and continue to show off the personality of your business.
